DaVinci Resolve, made by Blackmagic Design, is a professional video application that combines editing, colour grading, visual effects and motion graphics, and audio post-production in one program. It is known above all for its colour tools, which are used on feature films, web series and advertisements.
Resolve has a free version, which is why many editors and students start with it. A paid Studio version adds extra features such as more AI tools. In 2026, Resolve 21 added a Photo page for still images, new AI tools such as IntelliSearch and CineFocus, and a large set of new motion graphics, and 21.1 followed in September 2026 with further AI and Fairlight updates.
